Antique French riverscape/landscape in a beautiful ornate frame, unsigned.  This attractive post-impressionist oil on canvas of a boat sailing down a river has the most appealing hues of greens, blues and lilacs with burnt sienna.  Here, the artist has layered and mixed his or her colours on the canvas to good effect, particularly in the sky which lends itself to the lilac hues of an early overcast evening.  A textured canvas created by impasto enforced paint, with swirly clouds, elevated foliage and water highlights throughout.

Condition: The painting, is in overall good antique condition.  It has been relined at some stage and has had renovations, particularly on the right hand side.  Expect imperfections throughout, including stable craquelure. The frame, quite likely the original is in good condition but again, has imperfections throughout commensurate with age, such as missing plaster and areas of white plaster showing.
