Late 18th Century portrait of a young man holding his hat.  This precious jewel of a portrait is undeniably incredibly attractive.  It's an oil on stretched canvas which is smooth to the touch.  It is very well painted and the young man's blue eyes match the grey of his jacket, his brown hat is snuggled under his arm.  A slightly frilly collar predates the usual 19th century stiff collars that men wore with their redingote jackets.  The young man has an oval face with hair which is tied back and flows down his back.  It's very traditional French school on a dark green background which sets off the painting very well and blends with the gold of the frame....
