A rhythmic portrayal  of the Normandy countryside.  This is a large post impressionist landscape oil painting by French artist, Pierre-Edmond Peradon (1893-1981). The artist has used a limited palette and a myriad of green hues on a slightly textured board. It is without doubt a delightful and colourful painting by a reknown artist...

MORE ABOUT THIS PAINTING:

Medium: Oil on cardboard pasted onto canvas

Overall size: 28.5ins x 19.5ins or 72cms x 50cms

Date: 1960's

Condition: The painting is in good vintage condition.  The original painting is on cardboard and in the past the cardboard has been pasted to a quality stretched canvas.  I can see no reason for this other than to preserve the painting.  It has been taped around the edges and you will see some of this tape is loose.  This would be hidden within a frame. The painting has minor imperfections throughout as you would expect from a vintage item.

Signed: in the bottom left, P. Peradon -  Pierre-Edmond Peradon (1893-1981)  Peradon was a painter and poet, he came from a wealthy family.  His father, Edmond-Cyprien held high office in French administration and his mother Charlotte Adèle Aline Deshayes came from a family of successful millers. He was born in Courseulles, a commune in the Calvados department, Normandy, northwestern France.

Although his family traveled for his father's work, they always returned to Courseulles where he lived and worked for most of his life.  He exhibited throughout Northern France and Paris and painted the Normandy beaches of the D Day landings.
