Roger Bénévant, born on Valentine's day 1930 in Mirande in the Gers, he is a French painter and sculptor.
He was a student at the Toulouse School of Fine Arts but he decided to go to Paris in 1950, where in 1953 he held his first private exhibition a the Galerie du Cirque.
After a few private exhibitions, both in Paris and in the provinces, he started he started a series of large paintings with mythological themes. This project lasted sixteen years until 1978 and became his Mythological Suite. The Mythical Suite along with a number of other paintings was exhibited at the Château d'Ancy-le-Franc,Yonne.
However, his activity as a painter should not overshadow his interest in sculpture and his attraction to bronze, which again is inspired by ancient myths.
