François was a painter of landscapes. He was born in Nantes, in the Loire area of France. Although he was a student of Louis-Nicolas Cabat (1812-1893), he style was closer to Theodore Rousseau (1812-1867). He exposed in the Paris Salon from 1859 - 1866 and in 1945 there was a retrospective exhibition of his works in Nantes. His art is dispayed in the Musee de Nantes.
